Summer. Sunshine. Joy. Childhood. Warmth. Laughter. Play. Boy. Miracle.
This is Daniel. I’ve known this boy since before he was born. His mom is one of my favorite people on this planet. She used to be my boss, but quickly became a heart-knitted-close kind of friend, a mentor, a prayer partner, an inspiration, a challenge, a joy, and so much more. His mom is the incredibly talented Scarlett Meredith – she is a portrait artist in Atlanta and she is absolutely brilliant at what she does (How many paintings of hers do I have of my boys? And how many more do I want?). And this amazing woman calls me her friend. When Scarlett was pregnant with Daniel, I was working for her as her assistant. We worked in some of the finest homes in Atlanta and she shaped my knowledge and appreciation of art. When she was expecting, she ended up on bed rest in the hospital and I would go stay with her. I loved getting to love on her because she is such a strong woman and it was a joy to get to serve her for once. Daniel was a surprise, bringing him into the world was a struggle, and once he was here he was a firecracker. After having two amazing daughters, welcoming a son into the world was a new and beautiful and mind blowing experience for Scarlett. This journey was a wonderful thing to watch. And wouldn’t you know it, seven months later I had my own son – born early, in the NICU like Daniel. I was so thankful for my precious friend who loved me through it, told me I wasn’t crazy, let me cry it out, prayed with me, always believed.
I haven’t blogged in a so long… I’ve been insanely busy… but I’m so thankful to break my hiatus with this miracle boy. This session was exactly what I needed and it came at just the right time – Daniel and the sunlight and all the beauty inspired me. I am so thrilled to share this with you!!!
So, this is Daniel. He’s brilliant and beuatiful and feisty and adventurous and brave and careful and tough and competitive and energetic and creative and everything a boy should be.
I hope you enjoy.
