Love, Sweet Love

There’s something really magical about moms and their little boys.  Maybe it’s because I’m a mom of boys that I think this.  I don’t know.  But getting to photograph that unique and timeless bond always gets to me.

Heather, my dear friend, is not only gorgeous in her own right… but when she looks at her boys, she positively lights up from within.  Her smile is captivating, and their giggles are infectious.  I know you will see their obvious joy in one another in every image.

Now, let’s take a moment to be honest about family pictures.  Sometimes kids aren’t super into the drama.  They have to wear special clothes and not get dirty before mom says they can get dirty.  They have to calm their wiggles and listen.  They have to stare at a lady with a black box on her face (that would be me!).  But honestly, one of my favorite things about photography is letting kids be kids.  I like for them to run and laugh and swing on vines and dance and roll around in grass.  Of course every mom wants at least one image of their child’s face, looking sweetly at the camera and giving their best cheese.  But they also want to remember the details – the dimpled knuckles clutching toys, the sparkling eyes lit up with mischief, the grass-stained knees and messy hair…  these are the realities of life with boys.  And as much as I love for photos to be picture-perfect beautiful… I think they are most beautiful when they are genuine.  Real tenderness.  Real play.  Real love.

Maddox and Valor, goodness… your mama loves you with that kind of love.  You boys are are the light of her life, as she is yours.
